several common question relating to web hosting, e-mail and mobile
e-mail services. If you are still

POP3 or IMAP Settings
- With POP3 (Post Office
Protocol Version 3), the mail client accesses the mail server to
send your outgoing e-mail and to download your incoming messages to
your local computer. There's no synchronizing going on, just copying
of mail messages from the mail server to your local computer. In
most email clients, you can choose to leave a copy of the mail on
the server, or to delete it from the server when you download it.
POP3 is good option if you plan to access your e-mail from one
computer and want to archieve your message offline on your local
computer.
- With IMAP (Internet
Message Access Protocol) your email client synchronizes your inbox
and mail folders within your local e-mail client to match with
folders and messages located on the mail server. With IMAP
your messages are not download to your local computer, instead
reside and remain on the mail server. IMAP is great if you
access your email from multiple computers, since it keeps all the
messages centrally located on the mail server. Remember, IMAP
requires a constant internet connection to access your email
messages.
